iMac G4 freezes with garbage onscreen

Posted by: Simon27 on 2023-12-02 10:40:03 My 1st gen 700 MHZ 15" G4 has started randomly freezing with garbage on the screen. I've swapped the RAM but it's showing the same problem. Rebooting immediately results in no boot chime, and an interesting (if not spectacular YT vid) effect on the screen. Leaving it to cool down allows me to restart and run it for a while. 2 CPU temperature apps (OS 9) that I've used seem to show different temps, but it seems fine under load at a supposedly 37 ˚C. Is this a familiar issue to anyone?
