| A couple of IIci's...one from Buyee, and one for free(complete with original monitor)! | |
| Posted by: JT737 on 2023-11-15 16:21:01 So I recently won a IIci from Buyee...which in and of itself, isn't a big deal. But it had a Daystar Powercache 68030 card in it as well as a network card! The card is the 40Mhz version and doesn't have a 68882, but for the price that I got it all for, I think I did pretty good. However, today I got an even better score: a IIci, complete with a monitor and keyboard, from the local Community College that I work at! It had been sitting in the prop closet of the Theater department for years, and the technical director wanted to make some more space. So he gave it to me! It fires up with my SCSI2SD drive attached. I was hoping that the internal HD would spin up and be readable, but alas, while it does spin up, it isn't readable. I was also happy that the monitor indeed does work...although the colors seem a bit washed out. Of course, maybe that's just how they always looked and I can't remember......      | |
| Posted by: volvo242gt on 2023-11-15 19:58:38 It kinda looks like the gamma is off. Does the monitor show a rather yellow cast to it when connected to the other ci or your C650? Anyway, nice score on both of the machines. | |

| Posted by: KC13 on 2023-11-16 05:50:09 Very nice. I used to love my IIci but it stopped booting a year ago. I sent the MB to someone who recaps for free, you just pay the shipping. It came back with one missing cap and another with the polarity reversed. Was afraid to apply power. I grabbed some destroyed 386 PC boards to see if I could manage fixing the errors. Alas, my soldering iron and my skill level made a fiasco out of that. Living on a very limited pension, so solutions will have to be deferred to some future time. Blew my play budget for the year on another PB180 for parts and some BlueSCSI devices for my non-functional systems, lol. | |

Somewhere in my mess I have another cable that I can test it with, and of course, I can always hook it up to my SE/30 to see what it does as well. @KC13 -Sorry to hear about your IIci! If you need some help, let me know. I can (possibly) fix it, as I have a pretty decent electronics workshop with a nice soldering station. I'm not as good as some of the other members of this board (such as @Bolle )....but I'm getting better! | |

I don't want to derail this thread, but this should definitely be fixable even if you're at beginner at soldering. | |
