| What clips or screws are used to attach an SE/30 Twinspark PDS card to the metal frame? |
Posted by: s_pupp on 2023-11-13 19:28:19 I would like to secure a Twinspark PDS adapter to the metal frame of my SE/30. Are screws or plastic clips used to accomplish this? Does anyone know the specs of the screws or clips? |

Posted by: zigzagjoe on 2023-11-15 06:37:25 It's not really a problem, but the "correct" way to mount a card is using plastic push-pins / rivet so it's not conductive. This is the correct part: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/würth-elektronik/700973500/9488147
Cards were not intended to ground against the chassis. On the card, there should be either a zone clear of traces or a plastic isolation (i've seen both), however, not all manufacturers adhered to apple's spec. |
Posted by: bigmessowires on 2023-11-15 08:41:30 I just went through this yesterday. My card (SuperMac ColorCard SE/30) has IC pins sticking out all through the section where it might touch the chassis. The card has mounting holes that are sort-of near those two holes in the chassis, but offset about 1cm away. Strange! My solution was to tape a thin strip of cardboard on the inside of the chassis, so if the card wobbles in the PDS connector it will touch the cardboard instead of the chassis. It's not very professional but it does the job. |
Posted by: s_pupp on 2023-11-15 17:46:47 My gratitude to all above. I’ve got the clips in my Digikey cart, and will insulate and protect the card from the chassis. I have adhesive backed fish paper lying around that should work well for that purpose. |
