| 660av deadPSU |
Posted by: crazyben on 2023-10-16 15:29:08 I recently acquired 660av and 6100/60. Both have dead PSU. I bought a working one and I was able to boot both machine. My question is can we easily rapair these? My knowledge on psu is just recapping. |
Posted by: joshc on 2023-10-17 01:56:17 Everything is repairable, given enough effort and expense given to it. In general these are fairly reliable but obviously not in your case - maybe they're just getting to that age where they are going to start failing now. There were a few different PSUs used in these machines, all the same formfactor but some are Delta, some are TDK and I think some are Dyna Comp or Astec, so there's isn't a single answer to 'How to repair it' - it will depend on the PSU.
Have you got a model number / picture of the label and some pics of inside it to hand? |
Posted by: dalek on 2023-10-17 05:10:13 I recently recapped mine (Dyna) and it came back to life. Worth a shot anyway. |

Next to R66 there’s a 6 pin IC with a hole in the middle of the chip - not good. Looks like a dot from a marker pen rather than a hole? |

Looks like a dot from a marker pen rather than a hole? Yes you are correct it is a dot. |
