| Mac SE SuperMac SuperView! |
Posted by: Snial on 2023-09-30 04:18:33 My Mac SE originally had a second portrait, A4 page monitor. I had been used by the Eastern Daily Press (a Norwich, UK local newspaper) in the 1980s early 90s. It was always very weird to see the second monitor in action, because obviously it's fantastic to have a second monitor for such an early Mac, but it'd get updated at glacial speeds compared with the video performance for late 90s computers. I took the card out when the flyback on the SE blew. Is it any potential use, given that I presume it's hard to get a compatible monitor?

View attachment 62777 Is it missing its EEPROM?
First question is whether it outputs 0.7v, 5v or ECL. Progressing in levels of faff to get working. |

Posted by: Arbee on 2023-09-30 21:10:00 Huh. It looks like it shouldn't work, because the two EPROM sockets in the lower right are empty. (The socket between those and the TMS34061 is suspect too). |

Sometimes you see cards where the software all runs from disk even though there is a ROM socket. Its weird, but not the first time I've seen it. Someone changed their mind or something went wrong.
I don't think SEs use Slot Manager anyway, so it sort of doesn't matter. |
Posted by: Arbee on 2023-09-30 21:46:18 Yeah, true. I know the Radius TPD card has an EPROM and uses the "have $55AAAA55 $55AAAA55 at $F80000 and you'll get called before the startup beep" mechanism so you don't need software, but it's possible to do it other ways. |

Posted by: oldappleguy on 2023-10-04 16:23:24 It may just drive a ttl monator |
Posted by: zefrenchtoon on 2023-10-05 01:28:15 After looking at @oldappleguy 's photos, I relooked at my card and @Snial 's one.
They're not the same on the left part !
if anyone has an idea of why these differences ...
Thanks @oldappleguy for your scans ! |
