| Oh no... OS X 10.2 Install HELP |
Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2016-07-13 06:37:06 Ok, so I installed OS X 10.2 to my external 80 GB firewire HD. I used disc 1 (And it never asked for disc 2). It installed, and said to restart the computer. I did. It loaded into OS 9, which then I selected the Firewire External drive which under version said OS X. I selected it and restarted. Now there is no video signal, and my monitor says check video cable. I have tried booting to the CD again by holding down c. Nothing happens. I tried holding down option for boot manager? Nothing happened. So now Im stuck with nothing. What do I do? I really wanted to use OS X...
Is this monitor problem or computer?
Can I unplug the adapter for my monitor (LCD) and plug it back in while the computers on to see if I get a signal? Or will it hurt the computer?

New battery.
The monitor works in OS 9 and 8, not OS X. Well, it worked in the installer.
Id love to know just how to bypass booting into OS X for now so I can get back into 9.
The hard drive was not partitioned, I didn't think of it. But it came up as a bootable drive in Disk Startup and OS X installed fine...

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2016-07-13 07:45:22 No.
All I need to know if how to bypass this startup and boot back into 9. I dont care about OS X right now, I just need start up manager or something. Option and holding C does nothing.

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2016-07-13 08:17:56 YES! Reset the pram like 7 times, then just held option for good measure (In case boot manager).
Its back to 9! Thanks!

Posted by: rsolberg on 2016-07-13 10:03:06 My guess is it's a compatibility issue with your monitor adapter or monitor. The Mac OS X installer may be able to run at a lower resolution like 640x480, but on boot the system may be selecting a mode the monitor or adapter don't support. IIRC, Mac OS X requires 800x600 as a minimum. Check your resolution in Mac OS 8 or 9 to see what's working.

Posted by: Johnnya101 on 2016-07-13 12:29:08 I do know one reason why it couldn't be working. I didn't partition anything... Oops...
Off topic: Anyone know how to use file sharing without being near a router? Mac OS X and OS 9?
