Two Chip 16MB SIMMs that work in an SE/30 or IIcx
Posted by: Phipli on 2023-08-26 16:29:12
Can people please share the part numbers of the RAM chips on 16MB SIMMs that...

a) Only have two chips on the SIMM
b) Work in an SE/30 or IIcx

Some chips work, others don't. I've been bitten in the past and it is an expensive mistake!

Were there / are there 2 chip vintage Mac compatible 16Mb SIMMs? I know there is this issue with 4Mb SIMMs - @max1zzz has made up some 2 chip, 4Mb ones of late, so will know what's needed for those. Maybe he'll know the incantation for 16Mb ones?

There are yes 🙂 just... It's hard to work out. Known good is easier than hours with the datasheet.

I'll have ti look at my SIMMS later to find the exact part number, what I can remember is the chips are next to impossible to find. I ended up getting some 64 & 128MB 2 pin simms form another member to pinch the chips from.
I keep meaning to do a 16MB simm design with 16Mx1 chips which are easier to find

That's frustrating.

Now that... Is interesting.
