Last year, my brother and my friend both brought me their SE/30's so that I could replace the capacitors. Both machines had signs of capacitor failure. everything was a success, until I got to the main boards. Everything except SCSI was working, after attempting to fix as many traces as I could, I still had two machines that refused to boot off of their drives. This is when I found this thread about new main boards being made. I decided the best course of action was to move the known good parts over to the new main boards. That plan went well until it didn't. After a month of slaving over the first board, I lost all motivation and it became increasingly obvious that this was beyond my capabilities as a technician.
I have two old boards, and five new boards I have been halfway complete with one since October, and I have neither the skill nor the motivation to complete either. And at this point I don't want to look at either anymore and I would honestly be willing to pay someone for time and materials to finish both of these boards for me. If anyone is willing to provide this service, I really don't have any other options. I just want to get these boards working so I can get these two machines out of my sight.
Anything is appreciated | Posted by: imactheknife on 2023-08-22 18:13:01 Well, for one thing, internal drives need to be terminated to work, or have an external scsi device hooked up that’s terminated. Se/30 wont even see the drive until then.
Caymac vintage does this service. Will let him know your looking
