I've found conflicting information online as to if the 610 has any onboard video ram. Looking at the motherboard, I'm thinking that it does not. Does anyone know for certain?
If the 610 doesn't have any on board video RAM, and no video RAM installed, would this prevent a startup chime? | Posted by: Phipli on 2023-08-14 06:27:12

It does have onboard VRAM, it is next to the ROM at the front edge of the board, slightly to the right of centre. | Posted by: Forrest on 2023-08-14 08:27:51 Confirming the 610 has 512KB of VRAM soldered to the logic board. There are also two memory slots where you can install a pair of 256KB VRAM modules, bumping the VRAM to 1 MB. There is some debate on whether a PRAM battery is needed on this model, but it couldn’t hurt installing one. | Posted by: betaporter on 2023-08-14 11:47:20 Fantastic, thank you both for confirming. I've tried booting it with a PRAM battery installed, but I've realized now that I didn't test the voltage on the PRAM battery so I might have been testing with a bad battery. Something I'll double check this evening.
