Mac SE Ethernet card usable in other models?
Posted by: Huxley on 2016-07-02 10:04:40
Howdy gang,

Spotted a Mac SE in a local Craigslist ad, and it seems to have an Ethernet card installed (at least judging by the sub-par photo of the rear of the machine). Given that the asking price is pretty reasonable ($45 and willing to haggle) I'm gonna grab it, but I'm curious: would that Ethernet card (assuming that's what I'm seeing) be usable in any other Mac models? Ideally I'd be able to transplant it over to my SE/30, but I have a vague gut feeling that the SE/30 and SE have different slots.

Any suggestions?

You can't do it, it's that simple...

Yep 6800 vs. 68030 PDS are totally incompatible.

But there was an (almost certainly) exceedingly rare expansion unit for the Portable that had slots for two SE PDS cards. ISTR it was one of the Xpanse series from Second Wave. Can't think of any other method of using an SE card "in" another Mac.

found a reference: Seems like a precursor to the DuoDock
