Spicy O' Clip: Easy '040 overclocking with no soldering
Posted by: eharmon on 2023-07-09 21:15:30
After spending a week looking for a MacClip Jr, I gave up and decided to build my own (patience isn't a strength of mine). I wanted to preserve its best features, being non-invasive and reversible, since I love to keep my machines as stock as possible. Along the way, I realized you could set things up without soldering at all, which should keep this just as accessible as the original MacClip Jr.

Best of all, it uses a Spicy O' Clock so you can get endless tweakability.

I dubbed it the Spicy O' Clip: https://eharmon.net/retro/macintosh/spicy-o-clip/

This is really amazing, incredible to find something like this sitting around without a response just acknowledging 🙂 - you should bang out a small batch of these for sale 🙂

Thanks! Really I have to give most of the credit to the folks who wonderfully documented earlier versions of the process in the 90s. 🙂

I'm not interested in making money, but it could definitely be sold as a kit. Maybe I'll recommend it to Kero!

This is fantastic! I've been looking for a MacClip Jr for a long time. I am going to follow your instructions and see if I can build one to clip on 🙂
