All the boards for a Lisa, possible to find?
Posted by: Berenod on 2023-07-05 05:53:29
I kind of have my eye on an complete Lisa 2/10, incl. keyboard and mouse (the normal one, not the first Lisa version one).
Only none of the logic boards nor the PSU are there.

Are they sometimes popping up on places?
PSU I already saw once, but hardly ever any of the PCB's or even the frame holding them all!

For the 2/5 and 2/10, the I/O, CPU and main motherboards are all reproduced (w/ improvements) and sold by Sapient Technologies (via VintageMicros, usually). There have also been efforts to reproduce some of the boards, including memory cards, and whose KiCad files can be found on GitHub. The individual boards turn up time to time on eBay, along with power supplies; but all are usually sold "untested" which in my experience translates to "not working". YMMV.

I don't believe the 2/10 motherboard & I/O boards have been recreated? The CPU and RAM boards are the same between the two models, but the I/O board is specific to the motherboard and the 2/5 motherboard won't fit a 2/10 chassis and vice versa.

@Berenod - I had 5 x of Alex's 2/5 motherboard made up, so I can spare one if you're interested. Also, I believe a 2/10 chassis can be converted to a 2/5 if you swap the internal wiring.

Thats not true. The 2/10 motherboard & I/O boards have been recreated. I helped to recreate them, and have complete card cages populated with newly made motherboard, I/O, CPU, and memory boards. All the components used are new or NOS.

That's great. I did say "I don't believe..." no need to be aggressive. Where can these cards be acquired? I didn't see them on the VintageMicros site?

I would just buy one that wasn't missing any parts, even though the upfront cost is higher. Trying to piece one together from parts, could take a long time, and end up costing more than a complete unit, in the end. It sucks to get down to that last part that you need to get something working, and nobody has one to sell, then your entire effort and expense has been wasted, and nobody who knows anything about these machines will buy it from you in that state, because they would also know how difficult that one part is to get. The only people you could sell it to, is someone who doesn't know any better (shame on you), or someone who has the missing part.
