| Powerbook 100 IO Door? | |
| Posted by: twelvetone12 on 2023-07-05 01:57:30 Is there anybody that has a powerbook 100 willing to help me get the measurements of the I/O door on the back? Mine is missing and I would like to put to good use a brand new 3d printer that is laying on my desk... I saw there is one for the PB 180 but I could not find it for the 100 (which is different), so I think drawing it should not be "too" difficult. Thanks! | |

| Posted by: GRudolf94 on 2023-07-05 19:18:33 Excuse the shoddy drawing and measurements, I don't have my calipers here, all I have is a dimly lit kitchen table and a ruler. The port cover appears to be symmetrical so keep that in mind. You can measure the powerbook itself and refine the dimensions, peg depth and placement, etc. Not sure if you'll want to replicate the original latch mechanism (which is just a slider with a catch and a plastic spring) but this should all get you close enough to just have to finish the details yourself. The sides where the pegs go are raised walls, the bottom part of the flap is about the same 2mm thickness as the rest.  | |

That said, you could probably glue/melt a small magnet to the inside of the lid where it could catch, um, on the headphone jack maybe? And then just make a fingernail indent/hold at the top. | |

My 170 did actually come with one, but the latch was broken. Then I barely put the lightest force on it one time by mistake, it was basically no force at all. And it broke one of the tiny mounting pegs. The 100’s door seems better attached. | |
| Posted by: GRudolf94 on 2023-07-06 06:45:25 100s seem stouter as a whole, at least when it comes to the plastics. My "daily" 180 is the least crumbly brick-series I've encountered yet, and feels nowhere near as solid as my 100s | |
