| OS 7.5.3 install floppies |
Posted by: MacUp72 on 2023-06-23 23:45:39 I made 16 OS 7.5.3 system install floppies for my PB 520, they all seem ok but something is missing on the Install 1 floppy.
it doesnt boot up, it is just being ejected. ( used this ones ).
When I look on it's contents the system folder is empty but I guess thats normal.
Only on my disk tools/LIDO disk tools floppy theres more content on it ( Finder, System, font etc, system Enabler..) like a mini OS.
so to get around this ( to have a desktop) I temporarily copied the system folder onto the internal HD and was able to boot and proceed with installation via the desktop. The install was ok but now it is unhappy, it still has some old contents on the system.
what is missing on the install 1 floppy, is there some hidden content or do I need some other Enabler like that attached? |

do I need some other Enabler The PB 520 doesn't need a System Enabler with System 7.5.x. |

View attachment 58441 That's not a System Folder, that's a System File.
A setup like that should cause the floppy to boot straight into the installer with no Finder. |

without any enabler, ok..but it doesnt boot, strange. I'd find another copy of the installer images. I've not seen one with a disk called "1" before. Suggests it might have been changed from standard, possibly.
Also try another floppy disk. |
Posted by: MacUp72 on 2023-06-24 01:15:32 oh, you mean its the actual name of the disk, yes, I renamed the floppy itself but left the contents unaltered. |
Posted by: MacUp72 on 2023-06-24 03:33:33 I think I got it..it was the wrong Disk Copy version, now used the one from 7.6 ( version 4.2) and it booted..will install 7.6 instead.
it is the actual copying process that has to be veryfied. |
