| Adaptec AHA-2930CU + Hitachi Ultrastar Ulltra320 |
Posted by: haemogoblin on 2016-06-26 08:36:12 Hey Guys
I've took the plunge and bought myself a SCSI controller for my Powermac 8500. I'm hoping the 2930CU will work along side the Hitachi drives I've have laying around. I was given seven of them, so i'm hoping I can at least get one stuck inside my Powermac. Giving me a whopping 73gb, in place of my 9gb drive.
I'd just like to know if anyone has used one of these cards 🙂

Adaptec released two identical versions of most of the consumer SCSI cards:  the reasonably priced PC version, and the ridiculously overpriced Mac version.  The only difference was the ROM, and they went out of their way to prevent you from flashing PC SCSI cards with PowerDomain firmwares.

Posted by: haemogoblin on 2016-06-29 13:05:07 Thanks for that, wasn't sure where to post it. It was mainly a general question, just to see if anyone has used one.
The 2930CU I've bought IS a Mac edition. Am I right in thinking I can hook my boot drive up to this card?

Posted by: techknight on 2016-06-29 16:16:01 I would make a copy of the ROM and post it somewhere so peeps with a PC version can burn a new PROM and have at her 😉  I remember doing this back in the old 3DFX voodoo days, if I can recall.Â
