| Posted by: aladds on 2023-05-30 12:47:16 This is probably the silliest decision I’ve ever made in a “vintage” Mac sense (is a G5 vintage now? I feel old)  I am currently crossing various parts of the London Underground with a G5 on a small plastic rolling trolley (because the only thing sillier would be trying to do this using the handles alone!) I’m learning a lot about how inconvenient some of the step free stations really are. But impressed nonetheless that a 160 year old system even manages to be quite accessible (at the expense of journey time in a lot of places) But on the other hand, it cost me nothing! | |

Been a couple days since you posted, so I assume you successfully arrived at your destination. Any idea on the specs? Air or liquid cooled? Still stock, or was extra stuff installed? I suppose any G5 is technically vintage; probably not good enough to survive the modern web, but still a very capable machine. | |

I've done similar to this. Interesting experience isn't it... I'm not sure I like the Underground, but it's certainly extremely impressive in a huge number of ways | |

It's basically a wheely suitcase but with a platform instead of a zip up bag - quite impressed with it. And most importantly the G5 made it in one piece and still works. It's a Quad 2.5 Watercooled monstrosity, so I probably need to look at replacing the fluids now... | |
