IDEA: IceCast Stream Player for Classic Mac OS?
Posted by: CC_333 on 2023-05-29 01:07:05
During my experimentation with internet radio streams, I have become somewhat comfortable with the basics of setting up IceCast, connecting a source of audio to it, and listening to the result via a web browser or media player that supports connecting to streams.

Then, as I was reading the thread posted by @flexo regarding his/her new RetroScript idea, it occurred to me that an excellent idea for one of the first apps, once the framework is mature enough to support it, is a internet radio player!

Of course, sound would need to be supported, and I think, among many other's I'm sure, Quicktime (and on Macs new enough, iTunes) can play them, but I thought it would be a fun experiment nevertheless, if the framework ever gains sound capabilities.

That said, I know very little about programming, other than some Java that I've mostly forgotten, basic HTML and CSS, and minor bits of PHP and JavaScript that I barely understand, so I'm not of much use as far as actually implementing such a thing goes, but I can come up with ideas!
