| Uh Oh: Stupid Compact Mac Networking Question Alert |
Posted by: bedroom on 2023-05-10 22:15:21 hi all
i have a mac 512k and a mac plus. let's say, hypothetically, i'd like the two to see and talk to each other. if i'm not mistaken, i can use an appletalk connection to do this, but according to lowendmac, i need a specific cable in order to accomplish this. could the cable pictured below (stolen from dogcow's mac512k blog) be what i'm looking for?

LocalTalk or PhoneNET adapters would be another way to do it, as long as you can find ones that fit. |

Posted by: sfiera on 2023-05-11 02:57:15 That looks like good information too. It matches the “elderly MacOS computer” cable from https://whitefiles.org/tec/pgs/h10b.htm as well.
Although now I’m confused by that ImageWriter II cable. I still think it was designed for this use case, but it seems weird (for any use case) that it omits DE-9 pin 3 (signal ground)… |
