| 450 MHz Power Mac G4 OS 8.6 Help |
Posted by: LarBob on 2016-06-23 16:19:22 According to everymac, this Mac should be able to get 8.6 running. Even though it apparently can run it, I can't get it to boot any 8.6 install discs I can find. Could anyone point me in the direction of a disc that should boot on it?

For a system like that you'll need the original restore disk that came with that machine. (Or, in some cases, that "category" of machine.)
Once upon a time I had an envelope of random Mac restore disks from that era and I think a G4's 8.6 disk might have been among them, but I honestly have no idea where it would be. (Not that it would really help.) Is there a reason you specifically want 8.6 instead of 9?

EDIT: The link is broken there... any other ideas?
EDIT2: Further down on the thread is a link to the restore disc!
