| Testing Mac Classic Parts |

Hi all, I found two Mac Classics in unknown condition. I'm unable to power them on but they appear to be in good condition internally. The contacts on the plug on the power supply have been painted over and I haven't been able to get the paint off yet, so I'm thinking that that may be the reason why I can't get it to turn on.
In the meantime, what can I do to test the boards of these machines? The only other compact Macs I have are a 512K and an SE, are the logic boards interchangeable on these models?

Hello,
128k, 512k, 512ke and plus motherboards are interchangeable.
SE and SE/30 have a connector like Classic and Classic II but SE series are not interchangeable with Classic series.
Edit: So in your case, you can't test it without fixing your Classic analog board. |

Correct answer is above, but if you are very desperate, you could make up a loom to connect a classic board to the SE chassis. They have very different pinouts and video is inverted. |

That looks doable! Are the Classic and the Classic II pinouts the same? Also I'm assuming "snd" is sound? Do I just leave that pin alone? Does c-vid go to video? |

Classic and Classic II are the same pinout. C-Video goes to video. Snd goes to an amp on the classic board , just ignore as SE goes directly to speaker just use rear speaker out to hear the beaps. |
