| quick question re macintosh classic and a boot disk |
Posted by: chelseayr on 2023-04-17 16:44:51 always been used to cd-booting up to till now, so seeing I don't even know much anything about booting disks on these kind of early systems I thought I'll ask here to be certain..
would one of the two 1.4mb images on https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macintosh-system-6x or the first link under 1.4mb list on https://vintageapple.org/gamba2/bootdisks.html either easily do for osx 10.4 to write through an imation superdisk onto?
just basically want to be able to get a macintosh classic to beyond the question diskicon (unless the disk drive isn't happy but thats another subject tbd) and to poke around with checking basic functionalities for now .. thanks? 🙂
(and although its nothing to do with softwares haha no don't worry I won't leave a suspect battery sitting in it!) |
Posted by: ymk on 2023-04-17 17:34:31 You can boot from ROM: Cmd-Opt-X-O |
Posted by: chelseayr on 2023-05-08 17:10:27 so would the link I had found above be the correct one to try write through the imation superdisk to a hopefully good disk for to boot the macintosh classic to a basic desktop with? thanks
(and @ymk if the drive and/or disk won't respond then at least i'll try the rom option instead and cheers) |
Posted by: ymk on 2023-05-08 18:10:16 I'm fairly certain 6.0.8L will not work. It supports only the Classic II and a handful of other Macs.
The other 6.0.8 images you listed should work. |
