| Airflow direction Performa 475 |
Posted by: Amon_RA on 2023-04-04 10:41:51 Maybe a silly question but I noticed that according to the LC service manuals the fan should be installed with the logo side down :

My Performa 475 has a fan installed with the logo (label) side up... which made me doubt on what the the correct airflow direction should be... ?
Should the fan blow the air out of the case (so downwards) or take air in from the bottom of the case? |

Should the fan blow the air out of the case (so downwards) or take air in from the bottom of the case? Mine have matched what is shown, but truth be told, it is unlikely to make much difference. I'd just match the manual. |

Posted by: beachycove on 2023-04-04 11:27:27 I believe that Dana, of this parish (and of vhack fame), used to claim on her old Q605-themed website that turning the fan over with a view to expelling the air made her Q605 run cooler. This mattered in her overclocked, FPU-equipped machines.
Anyway, I certainly ran an LC475 that-a-way as a server 24/7 for a long while (at least a couple of years) without incident. |
