Power Mac g4 Quicksilver 867MHZ single dead after thermal paste install.

I recently re did the thermal paste in my power mac g4. It was completely dead after re installing the heat sink (I used a respectable brand of non conductive thermal paste.
I just reflowed the CPU today after letting it sit for months.
If all else fails I will try and find a replacement CPU card. But it's impossible to find 867mhz single cards.

Sounds like a good reason to upgrade!

Problem is I don't have any money for an upgrade card. I do have money for a CPU replacement of the same type. I've read MDD cpus don't work on the quicksilver anyway.
Is DV Warehouse good?

I (think) I have one of these? I can check, would photos ID it for you?

That is an 867 no cache, kinda slow.

I’ve purchased from DV Warehouse a few times without problems.

If you just want to make it go, this is the cheapest CPU I see right now:

I have $20, so I can get the 867 from DV Warehouse.

It would probably be $40 by the time you get your hands on it. Good luck with the repairs!

Got the original CPU working again with a reflow.
