Hello!
My Mac sounds like it's doing something (MacOS 8.6) and I'm curious if there's something like Un*x "top" command for Classic MacOS? An activity monitor ...
There is 'about this macintosh' that will tell you what programs are running, but if it is an extension, I'm unsure that there is anything.
That said, launch Sherlock and turn off indexing, see if that stops what you think is happening.

Posted by: Iesca on 2023-03-14 07:08:34Ah, here may be something, the similarly named Memory Map:
This is Memory Map version 2.54, it also has Map Update 2.53 (with a date of February 27, 1988). The disk has a date of 1986 on it and the name of Paul Cozza. This software is available to download in a few formats: Memory Map V2.54.dc42.mac is a DiskCopy 4.2 image file encoded in a MAR...
