| Restoring of two Mac Classic |
Posted by: demonlg on 2023-02-28 02:58:00 Hi at all,
i'm trying to restore two logic boards of mac classic, both with very damage caused from battery explosion!
One of this board have damage to the CPU pins, i have desoldered CPU cleaned all and resoldered but have to rewire any pins, hard work.
The other is ok to the CPU but the clock chip is going away, oxided pins and the chip is now out of the board and with no chance to resolder, and it is damaged (pins broken).
The question is, if i turn on the system with this logic board without clock chip, the system boot up or not?
Thanks

Posted by: demonlg on 2023-02-28 06:03:16 Yes I agree with you, but in some cases I did it, I was just wondering if the chip clock was strictly necessary for the CPU to work or could start anyway worth the system time. |

Some old powerbooks, and other macs have same chips if yours is not working anymore. Just saying the powerbook 140-170 have the same rtc chip if you were looking for that ic chip. |
