Pb520 scsi question
Posted by: imactheknife on 2023-02-15 16:15:22
I bought a non working for parts 520c. It actually turned on. There was no hard drive included, so i popped one in, no go. Cable looks fineZ tried a different drive, nope. I tried my apple external scsi and it will boot on scsi 2 but gives an error of silver lining driver did not load correctly so disk is locked. I cant get anything else i have to boot this thing except floppy, or my locked apple external. Any ideas?

I would try SCSI probe to see if it can see devices connected internally

I'd check the internal cable's connection, it can come lose, and its a pain in the rear to reconnect since, for some unknown reason, they decided to put the connector on the underside of the logic board. You basically have to disassemble the entire machine just to reconnect the SCSI cable.

Put the Silverlining INIT (it's probably named "Silver init" but it depends on the version, I am basing this on v5) in the extensions folder of your boot floppy, that should give you access to the external drive. If not, it means the driver on the hard disk itself doesn't like your choice of OS or it is damaged.
