| EPROM Programmer Recommendations |
Posted by: Marsu on 2023-01-17 13:18:47 Mentioned in a previous thread. I came across a Radius Accelerator SE 16mhz. The board works perfectly fine, only issue is that the ROM chips are programmed for system 6. In order to have the card support system 7 I need to flash the ROMs with the latest firmware.
From photos of the board (easier than "bending the rails" and removing the board itself), the Chips are 27c256-17. Does anyone here have experience with the radius cards, flashing EPROM chips and/or any recommendations on a Programmer that would support the 27c256-17. |

A TL866 if some description should work fine for a 27c256 (the 17 is just the part speed and means 170ns, that or faster (a lower number) will be fine).
If you don't want to spend the money on one you could send the parts to someone to program. If you ask around there will be someone. |

If you just need a programmed 27c256 I have a pile; send me the file and I can help if you want (I am in MI). |

I could not find a forum that was complete for this specific issue so here is a link to the v.2.1 Roms which should make a Radius Accelerator SE (16mhz and 25mhz) compatible with System 7

Sounds good, I'll have a look and presuming it checks out as the right file size for that chip, I'll send you a PM. |

Thank you Skate323k137, for Sending these out to me and all within a relatively quick timeframe.

I can confirm that the extensions do speed up boot times before the new ROM chips are installed, but result in MFBD crashes due to system incompatibility. The Patch extension fixes buzzed audio that came from the original ROM firmware update.

c Sorry I had the order wrong but MBDF crash. Basically since the old ROMs supported system 6 and not 7. I’m pretty sure it’s a general error in loading the system files. |
Posted by: CC_333 on 2023-01-25 08:25:57 Ah, OK. MBDF has to do with the menu bar, I'm thinking?
I thought I saw it mentioned somewhere before. Could've been this thread, actually.
