| connecting to tcp-ip printer |
Posted by: reddrag0n on 2023-01-08 22:28:30 i'm trying to connect to my laserjet printer, but i think i am getting stuck. i followed the instructions on 68K Macintosh and a Modern Printer, but when it asks for the queue name, i put in the host name, thinking that might be it, and the ip address, everything say's it's ok. when i try to print though, i get an error "LaserWriter 8 cannot be used because of an internal error. -43" *otherwise known as file not found*
printer in question is a laserjet m1217nfw connecting to my performa 475 |
Posted by: NJRoadfan on 2023-01-09 04:38:54 The printer doesn't support Postscript, thus will not work with those instructions. Another option is to use a VM or RPi running netatalk to provide AppleTalk printing services. That printer will likely require additional drivers/setup because its old enough to not even have AirPrint support. |

Posted by: NJRoadfan on 2023-01-09 16:08:59 No modern consumer inkjet printer is going to support Postscript printing or LPD. |
