Help with Floppy EMU and .img files

Posted by: tony359 on 2023-01-07 06:14:42 Hi all, I am having a hard time finding images for my SE as it's a 800K version - so all the images have to be 800K. I wanted to use Hard Disk Toolkit and I found the below: FWB Hard Disk Toolkit 1.x - Macintosh Garden Download #1: FWB Hard Disk Toolkit Personal Edition (PE) version 1.7.8. Download #2: FWB Hard Disk Toolkit version 1.8. macintoshgarden.org I tried all the 800K downloads but the EMU says "Disk image type is not supported in the current Emu mode" which I have encountered before. Is there a way to ascertain why this happens, when it happens? Thank you!

Posted by: joshc on 2023-01-07 08:22:51 Are they actually 800k images? What sort of drive is in your SE? There may be easier ways to transfer files to it instead of the FloppyEmu.

Posted by: tony359 on 2023-01-07 08:35:42 The description says 800K and the resulting extracted file is 3-400KB. EMU shows a question mark when selected. The EMU should load them anyways as 1440K - which would then not be recognised by the SE. I have two SCSI drives, one I'm trying to test (miniscribe) and a Quantum. The floppy drive is a 800K, I do have a 1.44MB from an SE/30 but I would need new ROM and WIM. I am a Windows guy I'm afraid so no mac - I do have some G3's, G4's and G5's but I was hoping not to have to dig out them for this task! 🙂 BlueSCSI? HD20? Thank you!

Posted by: tony359 on 2023-01-08 03:17:56 I think I found a better way: I am using an HD20 image which I can mount on mini vmac and where I can load any image. Then I transfer the image on the FEMU and run it on the Macintosh. Still, if someone can tell me how to deal with the non-working images on the FEMU, that would be great. Thanks!
