| Booting A/UX from other SCSI bus |
Posted by: robin-fo on 2022-12-30 12:01:29 Hi everybody,
I recently got an ATTO NuBus SCSI card which I just tested in my Quadra 700. I can nicely boot into System 7.1 from it, but a working A/UX setup won't. This is due to a limitation of the A/UX startup utility which only supports only the internal SCSI bus.
A/UX Server Administration tells:
The new SCSI device naming scheme in A/UX 3.0.1 does not apply to commands in A/UX Startup. This includes accessing all devices, as well as commands such as fsck. This means that you cannot access hidden devices when in A/UX Startup. For a discussion of the SCSI naming scheme and how devices may become hidden, see Setting Up and Managing Your Server. and
Note: Because the format for the Root Directory text box does not allow you to designate a SCSI bus number, you must choose a SCSI ID that is not hidden. For a discussion of hidden SCSI devices, see Setting Up and Managing Your Server. Sadly, I don't have a copy of Setting Up and Managing Your Server and there appears to be none available online. So how can I boot from another SCSI bus? |

It should be online. I’ll check.

Many thanks!
YW. Hopefully it answers some questions.
I checked and this is a one of a few manuals for A/UX that aren’t scanned and available as a PDF. |
