My Classic and Classic II are both now working. The Classic II has it's original HD and boots/runs perfectly. The Classic HD failed, and I have a BlueSCSI device in there. It doesn't boot, but sometimes does, or sometimes nearly does - anyway, the behavior is inconsistent.
The question is, does the BlueSCSI in the Classic require separate power? I have it connected via a molex adapter lead at present.
For the Classic II, I plan to replace the HD with a SCSI2SD 5.2, for which I think I've made a bootable 2Gb partition on an appropriate SD card. However, also does this need a molex adapter cable to power it separately from the SCSI bus (as the current HD is powered, obviously), or is there power for it on the SCSI bus?
Obviously then the additional issue is whether either the BlueSCSI in the Classic or SCSI2SD in the Classic II will be harmed in any way if they are powered separately and shouldn't be?
I've tried to find the SCSI2SD 5.2 documentation I'm sure I had last year when I bought it, but I can't find it now. | Posted by: dochilli on 2022-12-07 10:13:34 SCSI2SD and BlueSCSI can be powered by the SCSI bus. SCSI2SD and BlueSCSI can be powered by the SCSI bus. Only with a mac plus (without the diode mod) you need external power. Thanks you! That makes life a bit more simple, and means I can go ahead and install without waiting for the power lead. | | 1 |
