Board was decent and worked fine before recapping. I did not check floppy function before recap. Once i turned and first successful boot, i tried to mount a floppy, nothing, it tried to for a second them quiet. I tried another lc floppy, same thing, sounded like it tried then nothing. Tried other cables, same. Now it sometimes gives me this pop up saying cant initialize because disk is locked. Any ideas? | Posted by: imactheknife on 2022-12-03 21:10:22 ok, so with everything pulled except vram, I get the x icon, no flashing question mark, so it obviously thinks a bad floppy or wrong floppy is there but nothing is attached to logic board. | Posted by: bibilit on 2022-12-04 05:53:10 Probably still an issue in the LB area (goo ?) floppy drives are pretty reliable. | Posted by: imactheknife on 2022-12-06 11:48:41 So, rewashed board, cleaned, scrubbed, let dry. Still issue with floppy. What chip controls floppy on a 475? | Posted by: bibilit on 2022-12-06 12:45:22 Probably the SWIM | Posted by: imactheknife on 2022-12-22 13:28:56 So i pulled off a few caps in area of floppy, memory and vram. Cleaned and recapped again. Floppy works fine now Go figure! Anyways, always check for shorting and or bad solder on recap if something is wonky.. not always a broken trace or bad via, or chip etc | | 1 |
