| High pitched noise from SE (M5010) |
Posted by: 68kPlus on 2022-11-25 19:00:10 Hi,
My SE is making this high pitched noise, and I think it's the flyback transformer.
I believe they are supposed to make this noise, but I'm not sure it's normal. |

Posted by: Phipli on 2022-11-26 02:13:40 How high pitched? Are you aware that CRTs make a whine that only young people can hear? |
Posted by: AwkwardPotato on 2022-11-26 08:48:37 Not normal for it to whine like that, certainly not enough to be audible over the fan. Could be the core in the flyback is ringing because the glue around it is cracked. |

How high pitched? Are you aware that CRTs make a whine that only young people can hear? I believe it's 15,625Hz, which is what flyback transformers produce. I can hear up to ~18,000Hz.
It's inconsistent though. |
