What model Flyback Transformer is in the iMac G3 600 (Summer 2001)
Posted by: greystash on 2022-11-15 13:59:51
I have two iMacs that have arcing issues and would like to order replacement flyback transformers and get them installed. The iMac G3 500Mhz (arcing issues) along with my Flower Power 500 (no arcing issues) both use the LG 6174Z1017H. I recently acquired a Graphite iMac 600 (Summer 2001) which arcs badly but I haven't opened this one yet. Does anybody know which model flyback this machine uses?

I ended up opening the 600MHz model and it appears to use the same transformer: 6174Z-1017H CA08J N. I also found that the front bezel has a bunch of hidden cracks 😞
Would I be correct in assuming the second serial number is a batch number not relevant to the machine?
The second serial number on my 500MHz model is 3AG 03, and on my Flower Power it is 3AJ 26

Yes you're correct. The replacement is HR46177, which I haven't found a good source for yet. I'm in talks with some people in Ireland that might be able to source it, so if you're still after one I can help out a bit there.
Hope this helps!

Thank you! I managed to get three new flybacks a while ago but haven't found someone to help me install them yet.
If there's a large quantity I'd be interested in one or two, but otherwise I've got enough and I'm sure others would benefit from them

They actually replied and said the supplier was out of stock and so they have requested to be notified once they are back in stock (if they ever do, that is).
The hunt continues!

I tried ordering some from here, I'm not sure how valid this site is though and I couldn't proceed because it looked like you needed a Brazilian ID to finish sign up. Now I can't delete my account and get spammed by them all the time 😆

Tried them too. Glad I didn't try to make an account XD

FWIW the flybacks in the Brazilian link are out of stock, anyway. Has anyone tried to get in touch directly with HR Diemen in Spain?

@GRudolf94 I got in touch with Diemen Efiter last year and they said they no longer have any stock, I'm unsure if this is the same company.

Okay update: Donberg have no stock left (for good)
HR Diemen doesn't make them anymore, so looks like we are almost entirely out of luck :/
