HP Laserjet 4000 & JetDirect Card

Does anyone know where I might be able to download the JetAdmin software for an HP JetDirect 600 Card?  Not the WebJetAdmin HP currently has, this has to work with OS 8.6.  We got an old printer for cheap, got a Jetdirect card for cheap, downloaded the printer software for free, but I can't find the Mac version of the JetAdmin Software I need to configure the card.

I believe it's called "HP LaserJet Utility" on pre-OS X machines.

Try going to HP's Support website, then go to the drivers section.  Put in LaserJet 4000 for your printer, then select Mac OS 8.

It may also install the printer utility along with the printer extension and PPD.

Alternatively, download Classilla, and see if the web interface will work with it.  If it doesn't work with Classilla, try it with Internet Explorer.

I went to HP's site first, and they only have the OS X variety available for the 4000.  But hmmm.  There is no reason I couldn't use my current iMac to configure the IP address, is there?  That shouldn't interfere with the older machine's ability to print, because it does have the proper drivers installed...

They should have OS 8, I just went there and tested it:

Success!  I found the way to change the 4000's IP from DHCP to Static via the control panel (which was half of my problem), and then installed the driver on the old G3.  Used the Desktop Printer Utility to set-up the printer, and Voila! We print.  Now I just have to go hunting for a Stuffit Expander installer for a version more current than 4.5 that is still compatible with OS 8.6.

Stuffit Expander 5.5 and its corresponding DropStuff should work.

I didn't know you needed the static IP, I could have walked you through it.  We still have a couple LaserJet 4000 and one 4050.  You just scroll down to Configure Device, then I/O, then JetDirect, then TCP/IP, then set it to Manual, then put int he IP, subnet, router, and save.
