| Posted by: bigmessowires on 2016-05-26 19:36:34 FYI, I recently announced the ROM-inator II, which has a lot of those things bundled into a pre-programmed ROM image, for the SE/30 and Mac II series. http://www.bigmessowires.com/2016/05/23/introducing-the-mac-rom-inator-ii/ As far as I know, the Gestalt ID comes from some hardware (the VIA chip?) and isn't stored in ROM. | |
| Posted by: olePigeon on 2016-05-26 21:38:58 Oh OK. This was just wishful thinking for a little app that would make it easy for a layman like me to make those kind of changes. Turn off/on options you don't need so you get a little extra space for your disk ROM. Maybe even an option to dynamically load control panels and extension in ROM (for stuff like accelerators or SCSI peripherals like MO drives or Zip disks.) I suppose I'd replace the Gestalt ID with the Floppy Disk icon. Would add the HD20 option, too. In any event, I thought that when you changed out the SE/30 ROM with a IIsi ROM, 7.5 wigged out and didn't detect it as an SE/30 anymore. Or something like that. | |
