| Durosity’s conquests and collection |
I figured it was time to start posting some of my recent conquests, and some of my setup!
Todays is an Apple Scanner. Not a OneScanner, it predates that (and tbh I wasn’t even aware it existed until a few months ago!)

I’ve not yet actually got it to work. It is recognised by ScsiProbe but no software seems to recognise it, but I’ve not yet properly spent time on it. It’s not really important if it works or not, it’s just a cool “wee” gadget to have and add to my snowwhite collection!

There is an apple hypercard stack that should work with it. Disks are on Macintosh Garden I think.
Edit :
Apple Scanner software disk, containing Apple's Scanner and LaserWriter drivers, as well as AppleScan, for operating your AppleScanner. DL #1: AppleScan 1.0.1. Imaged from original media as an 800k DiskCopy 4.2 disk image, compressed with StuffIt 1.5.1, and encoded as BinHex 4.0. (Apple Part #...

Ofoto should work too :
Ofoto Version 2 is a scanning utility with automated scan/clean routines. This version supports color and was widely bundled with scanner software from many vendors, such as Canon. Prior to Version 2, Ofoto had been included as a part of Apple's scanner software.

Yeah I’ve tried Ofoto but no joy. I’m yet to try the first one, but I need to get a machine up and running which can run it!

I think there is a lock for the lamp at the bottom, you need to unlock or something… I had it years ago and I remener that I turned like a coin switch at some side …

Alas still haven’t got the scanner to be recognised by the software but it’s on the back burner for now as I’ve got far too many other projects on 😅
speaking of other projects.. I got me a Colour Classic for just £7.50! It was on eBay as collection only a few months ago and didn’t get any bids, but it happened to be in the same town as a colleague of mine so she picked it up for me. It’s then sat there for months until I had a chance to do so.
When I got there I opened it up and removed the motherboard.. MAXELL ALERT! Fortunately it hadn’t leaked yet so quickly removed that.
Gave it a wee recap and.. it works!

Gave it a wee recap and.. it works! Lucky! The same for mine did not result in a working machine. I think my CC has a haunted analog board.

I do have a Performa 250 with a funky analogue board that I need to recap at some point. It works but the image is distorted… I think it’s the board rather than the tube but until now I’ve not had anything I could test it with so need to start swapping parts around identify which part is causing it.
If you want feel free to send the logic board up to me and I can test it in my machine to see if it works or not.

I think my CC has a haunted analog board. I think your CC has a haunted everything. One of mine still won't work since we tried your LB in it.... 🙂

Oh, yeah.
Probably still haunted, though.

Perhaps it’s inhabited by the soul of a former user of the system..

@joshc @cheesestraws If either of you see a little girl crawling out of the screen, I suggest giving up on that one.

A little jealous, very nice. Looks like you've got a nice work space there, garage or workshop/out building?
Posted by: joshc on 2022-11-25 03:50:03 |
Yeah it’s a garage that I’ve converted for use over the last few years. I’ll see if I can find a pic.

It’s.. it’s a bit of a mess at the moment. A lot of this stuff is usually sorted in the loft (I know 😅) but I’m currently in the process of rebuilding the flooring and wiring in there.. and putting in some sensors to warn me if there’s any moisture detected too.. once that’s done a few machines will go back up there!

View attachment 49320 650 there flashing its PPC card at us 😉
Is that a 9500 or an 8500 with lens distortion? 🙂 Nice bunch of machines on view. My stuff is spread randomly around the house. I don't really have a "room". Part of the issue is we recently bought the house in poor condition so every room needs major (structural / damp) work.
