Macintosh Classic II
Posted by: bibilit on 2016-05-23 05:25:35
Collected today a Classic II, was cheap, no mouse nor keyboard and a no-worker.

Leaking caps on the logic board, not a big deal, the rest is in very good condition, no yellowing.

removed the II board and put a Classic instead for a test and got a boot.

Also included a MacGlare GuardPlus screen cover...

Nice! Not even yellowed ! Congrats!

Is the LB one of the enhanced ones?

Far better with new caps, and the hard drive is working ok:

The Apple on the Top left is surrounded by a square border, any idea ?

Good to know everything works fine now!

I have a floppy disk for my Plus that has that square around the apple logo as well. It was a 6.0.3 disk. I don't know why it's there.

It can't be the system version. 6.0.3 wouldn't run on a Classic II. The only version of System 6 that will run on a Classic II is 6.0.8L, and the one I have run on my Classic II does not have a border.

I don't know what it means either.

he said 6.0.3 on the plus, not on the classic II.

People with mystery apple boxes: have you checked to see if any unusual control panels/DAs are installed? (I have no idea what it means either, just guessing.)

Yes, I know, I mentioned 6.0.3 not working on a Classic II to make the point that it isn't apparently specific to a particular 6.x.x version.

I remember my disk had disinfectant on it. But it's either an Apple oddity or a ResEdit mod iMO

Such a beautiful machine. I got one too, but it was Maxelled beyond repair. 🙁 . The corner of the analog board was cracked off, too. How does that even happen?

I am very curious about the squared Apple menu. Did you ever find anything out about it?

Why does the bezel going into the CRT look strange? Is that the MacGlare Guard Plus?

Posted by: bibilit on 2016-06-01 22:45:37
Is that the MacGlare Guard Plus
Yes, not found much information about it online.

Could be SuperApple or ResEdit hack?
