| Apple Reference and Presentations Library (ARPLE) CD Collection | |
| Posted by: MrFahrenheit on 2022-10-06 06:24:49 Just a note that I’ve decided to start uploading my collection of original Apple Reference and Presentation Library (as well as Apple Reference, Presentation and Learning Expert - better known as ARPLE) CDROM ISO files to the Macintosh Garden. It’s a lot of data and I had hoped to coordinate shipping a large hard drive to them instead of uploading, but I’ve sat on these discs long enough that they need to be used and enjoyed by everyone. I have nearly all of them in my possession. Yes, I’m a data hoarder. | |

I imaged the disc and can upload now.I’m actually uploading the images via FTP and then once done I’ll set up pages for them. I wonder if this one should be it’s own page, or ? I’m likely going to organize the dated CDs (which start in 1992) in date-specific pages to group them together. Maybe create a page for “Apple Reference Performance and Learning Expert (ARPLE) 1997 CDs” (assuming that CD is 1997) ? | |

There are a lot of goodies, from HyperCard stacks, to graphics, to documentation and sales sheets, to even specialized software tools. There were some custom Apple internal software apps that I found when I was looking through them last year for the A/UX project. One was a cool app, something like SCSI Cloner if I remember right, which did bit for bit copies of drives from one to the other. I’ve never fully gone through all of them. That would be an interesting week of clicking and double clicking. There are different versions too: internal, provider, partner, and reseller. The internal ones usually have extra software on them. I also have a small collection of other Apple CDs that are being imaged and uploaded. Apple employees held conferences and retreats and they made CDs of the things that came out of them. Also, there are CDs for “site-licensed” software. Software which Apple purchased or was given a license to use, worldwide. They sent these CDs to employees all around the world for use. Some of the software on those hasn’t been uploaded to the garden, either. After all, what good is a collection of CDs if they’re just in a bin in someone’s basement, as opposed to being uploaded for others to find and use the treasure within? | |

Posted by: joshc on 2023-12-18 08:40:25The 1992 Technical Information Source (TIS) version 3.0 contains copies of System Tools 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 as 400k image files, and also has international installation files for 5.0, 6.0.7 and 7.0.1 (Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Taiwanese, Arabic, Chinese etc.)This is interesting; localised versions of older system software are often not easy to find.
