| macOS 12.6 - Desktop pictures reset every restart |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-10-04 13:53:19 I've had this issue before, and I don't know why it happens or goes away. I just did a fresh install of 12.6 due to a serious system error on my 2020 iMac. It has an LED Cinema Display connected to it. Every time, I set each desktop to its corresponding correct desktop photo that I want. Every time I either restart or shut down the machine (then start it), both photos have reverted to the generic OS 12 photo. I just don't get it. To top it off, the preference file for the desktop photos shows the correct path to the photos I've chosen...it just doesn't seem to do it! I don't understand how in the heck to get this to work properly, or what causes the issue. |
Posted by: olePigeon on 2022-10-05 10:17:35 I found this on the interwebs: https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-fix-mac-wallpaper-changing-after-restart/ |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-10-05 11:43:41 I did see that Ill try 2, as I had tried all the rest. It is some serious BS that Apple has such an asinine bug with an external display. Seriously, since the Mac II it hasn't been hard to set the external screen! |
Posted by: LaPorta on 2022-10-05 11:53:00 I also love how the solution says "you should now make sure your external monitor is off before restarting"....which is impossible with an LED Cinema Display. |

I also love how the solution says "you should now make sure your external monitor is off before restarting"....which is impossible with an LED Cinema Display. you could hook it up to a power strip and shut it off before you restart |
