| Apple 410 Color Plotter |
Posted by: Pushpull76 on 2022-09-30 15:07:12 I bought, with some other apple hardware, a rare Apple 410 Color Plotter. I'm still waiting for it, I don't even know if it's complete or not (not 100% sure but probably the pen holder with all the colors is missing). It was specifically built for Apple IIe and Apple III but...It was made from 1983 to 1988, it sounds logic to me that maybe there were also macintosh drivers to use it with more recent machines. Has anyone here ever seen the plotter working with a 128K/512K/Plus ?

Guessing here slightly, but MacPlot might be able to drive it? Yesss, that's exactly what I'm trying to discover. I found only "recent" versions of MacPlot
MacPlot Professional 4.x (Mac abandonware from 1994)

Checking if there is someting older around. |

Posted by: olePigeon on 2022-09-30 20:25:18 You also need a true vector program. I think MacDraw should work, but so should most CAD software. But programs like Adobe Illustrator rasterize before printing, so it won't work. You might even be able to print to it using InkScape on a modern computer. |

I found out from an old interview with the creator of MacPlot that at that time it was bundled with MacDraw, MacProject and later ClarisCAD. I just have to wait to see the real conditions of the plotter... |

Posted by: Pushpull76 on 2022-12-29 08:52:44 Just to update you all...the plotter I bought some months ago is never arrived.
The seller gave me a tracking number which has never worked; after days waiting, I contacted the responsible person for the auctions and, to be short, they sent me this :
Further to our previous correspondence regarding the following order: https://auction.catawiki.com/kavels/xxxxxxx

Honestly....it's the first time I have a crappy experience like this one. I always thought that Catawiki was one of the more realiable auctions sites on the web....well, I was wrong. |
Posted by: Phipli on 2022-12-29 09:01:08 A free version of MacPlot came with Claris CAD I think. Grab a copy and try that 🙂
MacPlot is awesome, I love the UI.
My brother briefly worked for the developer, MicroSpot, in the 2000s. Based in Maidstone Kent, of all places. They were weirdly also an Apple Authorised Reseller at the time. |

There's always going to be dodgy sellers (and buyers). It's how the site reacts to them that tells you the quality of the site. |

Posted by: DIY Dyson on 2023-09-24 07:08:06 Hi Pushpull, are you still looking for an Apple 410 plotter? I have one plus a couple of IIe computers. Just powered up after 20 years in my dads loft and all seems ok with the computers. Will try the plotter in the next few days. I used it as a kid and its still in its original box. |

.. are you still looking for an Apple 410 plotter? Ooo... if @Pushpull76 isn't or if shipping/customs is a deal-breaker - I'd be interested. LMK. 🙂 |
