| Posted by: Crutch on 2022-09-24 13:24:42 I am really excited to have found, in a pile of old disks I bought recently on eBay for $50, a working copy of Hippo-C, believed to be the first C complier ever released for the Macintosh. To my knowledge this was previously a “lost” piece of software. https://retrocomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/3213/what-was-the-first-c-compiler-for-the-mac Here it is: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/hippo-c-11 I was able to get it to work under Mini vMac emulating a 128K Mac (with, of course, the original 64K ROM). It bombs under Mini vMac emulating a 512KE. I haven't done much with it yet but am excited to play around!  | |
