Went to get a parts 9500, got a bit more
Posted by: RadRacer203 on 2022-09-20 04:42:52
Last night I went to grab a 9500 as parts for my Daystars, and I knew the monitors were there too. What I didn't know is I'd be getting a lot more on top of that! Ended up with the accelerated 9500, an 8100, an accelerated 7300, 2 big beautiful monitors, lots of scsi peripherals, and 4 g4 cubes in OWC aftermarket cases, 2 of which have 1500mhz accelerators

Very long story lol, but I'm going back for more peripherals and another 8100 too, they just wouldn't fit in the car!

Still in shock honestly lol

For real! I've had my eye out for one of those cube cases for ages and I've never seen one for sale, you managed to snag 4 in one shot! That's crazy.

Wow wow wow! I thought I got lucky snagging a few extra machines when I found my SE/30 but this is a hell of a haul!

Nice haul, those cubes look cool.

Lots of FWB stuff there which is pretty neat. You don't see FWB drives/enclosures often, I think they were more popular with pro/commercial customers and as such I guess most of them were recycled once they'd reached the end of their useful lives. Some more photos of those would be good to see, as it's actually hard to find photos of a lot of FWB products.

I can definitely get some pictures and info! Some of them even had their boxes but the boxes were in poor shape so I left them there. I also have to clean the rubber feet off that turned to goo lol

You don’t get that kind of haul every day! What a stroke of luck!

I like the Cube cases, and I'm jealous over the CRTs 🙂

Yeah, I didn't know what the CRTs were before I got there, but I went there just expecting to buy those and the 9500 lol. Excited to test them today

Time warp? That's awesome!

Incredible find!! Hats off! Very envious of both the cubes and those nice screens 😀 🙂

OWC aftermarket cases
Wow... never seen those - very cool. If you've a mind to part with one (looks like you have 4 + two (presumably empty originals)) I could be a player. I do have a US shipping address... 🙂

That's a nice find! I think you'd have an audience if you're willing to bring us along for the ride as you go through things and test them. I'm glad to see that stuff is still "in circulation" at least, and not in the trash.

Those Cubes are interesting to me, because 1.5GHz is a rare speed for CPU upgrades. The 7455 Sonnet stuff was usually 1.2 or sometimes 1.4GHz, and the 7447 upgrades were usually 1.6-1.8GHz. So I'd guess that the CPUs you got are 1.5GHz 7457 cards from Powerlogix. They also did the "VRM bypass" which helped to get faster CPUs into the Cube, particularly Dual CPUs. Given the upgrades you mentioned, I wouldn't be surprised if you find upgraded video cards too.

Those 20" Radius CRTs are spiffy.

That is insaaaaaaaane~! Those G4 cube cases are particularly interesting because I cannot find any information about them whatsoever.

They are PowerLogix Clear PowerCube Enclosures.
