Posted by: mloret on 2022-07-31 11:59:48Hey guys. I need help with an analog board I am trying to run on a Mac plus. It’d driving me bananas! It makes a ticking sound when the RAM test completes. The sound goes away IF i unplug the ribbon cable from the floppy drive to the logic board OR if I put a disk in the floppy drive! Here’s what i have done to figure out what’s causing the noise.
-I recapped the board. Still ticks.
-I tried with a different analog board that didn’t recreate the sound. To me that eliminates the logic board and the floppy as the culprits.
-I tried with a different floppy drive and not surprisingly still ticks.
-I tried with a floppy cable that has a red stripe instead of yellow. Still ticks.
- I have checked and double checked the polarity.
-I tried to swap out the cable that runs from the analog board to logic board. Same issue.
any idea what this could be?

Now that my Portable is done, next on my list is my 512k. I got this little guy around 2000/2001 on eBay when I was in high school for $5 (about the going rate then). It worked, but the front upper corners of the front bezel were cracked off (I epoxied these then). I haven’t started it up for...
