| Booting issues with Mac IIci |
Posted by: jasa1063 on 2022-07-22 09:35:15 I got a Mac IIci that has been recapped and it has a ROM-Inator II installed. The issue I am having is that when trying to boot System 7.1x or 7.5.x it freezes very shortly in to booting process. I have tried booting with Extensions off and that has not helped. . I have tried all versions of System 7.1 and System 7.5.3 but the result is the same. I have tried without the ROM-Inator II, but that has not made any difference. It will boot just fine with System 6.0.8 and boot offing of the ROM-Inator II. I copied the System file from the ROM-Inator II to System Folder on my System 7.1 installation and then it starts up Ok. I have tried different RAM and that has not made any difference in both Bank A & B. Any ideas on why this maybe happening? |

Did you remove the jumper on the logic board? The rom-selector? Yes, I made the appropriate jumper change for ROM-Inator II being installed or removed. |
Posted by: jasa1063 on 2022-07-22 17:18:38 I have a work around for now. I took the System file from the ROM-Inator II and copied over the missing icons from another System file using ResEdit. All the icons show correctly now and it boots properly. This should be good enough until I can check the board over for anything else that maybe wrong with it. |
Posted by: jasa1063 on 2022-07-22 18:26:44 One final update. System 7.0.1 works just fine. It was the only System 7 version I did not try. so for the immediate future I am going to stick with that. |
