Small board/tab repair suggestions?
Posted by: PotShotScott on 2022-06-26 12:21:35
Well - this unfortunate mishap occurred. Thinking about JB weld to mate it back together and then either soldering wire from each joint to joint or scraping the solder runs to solder them together. Anyone have any opinions about best method to repair?

I'd be liable to just follow the traces to the next points, solder the wires there, and toss the broken piece.

Sounds like a plan, I'll bring it with me into work tomorrow and can probably ship out same day.

Continued work on this - soldered for a temp fix. Drive is seen by my SE drive controller and when I place a disk inside it says its not initialized. It asks me "single or double" and I choose one. Disk won't format and the drive auto-ejects it immediately. I am 30 minutes in to the Branchus Creations floppy restro video (awesome) and noticed that while I do have the microswitch I do NOT have the metal tab circle in the photo attached. Looking for confirmation that this is likely my problem as the drive cannot tell if the disk is write protected or not - correct thinking?

That’s a problem yes, the parts drive I sent should have a spare on it so good there.
