Looking for English version of ''B's Crew'' formatting software (or a way to translate software into English)
Posted by: MrFahrenheit on 2022-06-21 12:06:09
B's Crew was a pre-OS X disk formatting utility, similar to LaCie's SilverLining, or FWB's Hard Disk Toolkit, but it specialized in Magneto Optical and Syquest disks (basically removable media).

A version was uploaded to Macintosh Repository which is Japanese:

Does this software exist in English? Is there a way to convert it into English?

Well, you can always do it the hard way using ResEdit and Google Translate…

Not sure if this helps you, but if you know someone who can perform the actual translation of the words for you (i.e. speaks English and Japanese), you can just use ResEdit on that application to change all the 'STR#', 'STR ', 'MENU', 'DITL' and 'DLOG' resources. Depending on how old it is, there might be 'mstr' resources or something like that as well. You might need a Japanese copy of MacOS for them though, to be able to do Japanese text input in ResEdit, I'm a bit fuzzy about how you enter Japanese text in classic MacOS.
