I'm planning to sand it down, prime it and repaint it. Does anyone know of a paint that matches the original colour fairly closely? | Posted by: jajan547 on 2022-06-10 20:07:24 This works well | Posted by: joshc on 2022-06-11 00:18:18 Thanks, that looks too beige though. The original colour is Apple platinum which was never beige.
From when I did research on this for the SE/30 case colour:
Platinum is a warm grey platinum color. Esslinger disliked the beige color used for the Apple II, III, Lisa and original Macintosh. So an off white color was used instead. In PANTONE's color system, the color used for the SE/30 is probably closest to 420 or 421. According to Apple, "Apple does not normally use PMS color charts or Pantone color numbers to designate the platinum color that is now the company standard. Our platinum color number on a coded PMS chart is somewhere between 420 and 421, somewhat closer to 421. (This depends on the age of the chart and the light source used for viewing it.)"
It looks like there are places which sell specfic Pantone colours in aerosol form so I could try that I guess. | Posted by: volvo242gt on 2022-06-11 12:48:23 Is your 7100's case halfway decent, color-wise? If so, take it to a paint store and have them scan it. Once they have it scanned into their system, they should be able to mix up a couple rattle cans for you... | | 1 |
