| Power Macintosh 7200 MB hi-res photos |
Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-23 05:06:44 Hi crews,
does anyone have high-resolution pictures (3000 px and higher) of the Power Macintosh 7200 motherboard ready to share?
I'm thinking about providing annotated photos for various Power Macintosh logic boards.
Annotations should help to identify various (AS)ICs as well as the existing connectors.
The main goal of this project is to provide visual reference for repairs and emulator development.
Such information is currently scattered across the internet but it would be nice to have everything in one place.
Hi-res pictures of the motherboards are pretty very hard to find!
Thank you in advance!
All the best

Posted by: MrFahrenheit on 2022-05-23 05:59:10 I have a 7200/90 board, but I don’t know if a photo I’d take would be 3000 pixels. The easiest for me is using my iPhone XS camera. Is that sufficient for your purpose ? |
Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-23 06:11:35 @MrFahrenheit The most important criteria for me is the ability to read component markings. iPhone cameras, especially in the latest models, are known to produce high-res photos. Would you mind giving it a try? |

Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-23 08:49:27 @Plasticoat The resolution and the lightning are great! Everything is perfectly readable. Many thanks for sharing it with us!👍 |

Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-25 01:37:35 @MrFahrenheit I can't read the markings of the following ICs (marked with the yellow circle):

The former must be a clock generator for the CPU while the latter is presumably the Ethernet MAC ROM.
Can you tell me what's written on their packages? |

I’ll take quadrant photos and upload them later today when I get a chance. |

Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-25 15:12:15 @MrFahrenheit U12 is indeed the Ethernet MAC PROM. The marking of the Motorola IC below the CPU is very blurry. I can't read it... |
Posted by: demik on 2022-05-30 09:32:10 Interesting my 7200 logic board has the CPU heatsink sideways at 45° (P/N : 820-0583-A)
Looks like the early ones (with a PPC 601) were 45°, and later ones (with 601v) were 90°C.
@powermax The Motorola IC reads MPC956 XAB9602 |
Posted by: powermax on 2022-05-30 11:34:30 Please find attached the annotated PM 7200 logic board. Kudos to @MrFahrenheit and @demik for providing the hi-res pictures as well as useful infos. |
