| Quadra 630 board compatible with Performa 6200 case? |
Posted by: David Cook on 2022-05-17 20:29:01 The Quadra 630 / LC / Performa series seems to have the same case, accessories, and motherboard connector/size as the Power Macintosh / Performa 6200 series. Does anyone know if the cases/motherboards are interchangeable?
They fit nicely. I just haven't had the courage to plug in the power yet. |
Posted by: jasa1063 on 2022-05-18 10:10:46 The Quadra 63x/Performa 63x/Performa 52xx/Performa 53xx/Performa 62xx/Perform 62xx cases are all supposed to be based on the Quadra 630 form factor and should be interchangeable. Have a look at this post on Lowendmac:

Form factors are pretty much identical across desktops and AIOs. FuglyTowers have a second slot in the PCI era, so that's a differentiation you're not facing.
PSU, Case and Harness cannot be assumed to be compatible when swapping boards around. Due diligence required. 😉
LEM articles are a blessing and a curse, depending upon many factors. I'd take any Y2K article there with a block of salt. The info available around these parts in the last decade is a far more reliable source, if not always correct. Nothing is perfect. |
Posted by: demik on 2022-05-19 03:07:06 Yes they mostly do. x400 and x500 boards do require 3.3V which isn't provided by earlier PSUs, but that's not an issue here. |

The NuBus ->PCI architecture shift on the 630 drawer machines changed things dramatically on both harness and PSU fronts. |
